Oh, BEE Still My Heart

Some may call my chandelier old and outdated, but I call it traditional and paid for!  Oh yea, and maybe a bit dusty!!  Seriously I have thought several times about replacing it, but I still like it, and that's what really counts, isn't it?  If there weren't so many other things that needed updating around here, I would consider a new one, but for now it's not at the top of my priority list.

I did; however, buy some new shades for it this week and I am LOVING them!  Whatcha think?

Essays

I ran across several essays my daughter wrote while in elementary school.  I couldn't keep them to myself.  I had to share. Here are a few:

MATH
"I hate math! Do you like math?  I sure don't!  Espicially when we take-a-way and when we borrow.  Do you like to take-a-way or borrow?  I don't.  But I sure do love to add."

IF I HAD $100
"I would save it until I had $120 and I could buy anything I wanted.  I would buy a barbie lamberginy and I could drive.  I could even drive down the road to my friends house.  Her name is Jennifer.  Try to guess her last name.  Can you guess?  I guess not.  It is _______.  Her name is Jennifer ________.  Now do you know?  I guess you do.  Me and her are mabe going to make a club.  The End. "

MY TEACHER THINKS I AM...
"A good reader and speller.  I am going to spell one word for you. Super fragalistic expie aladosias.  It may not be right but I tried.  One more word: Dictionary."

IF I LOST MY LUNCH MONEY
"I would panic.  And then go tell a teacher.  Then I would cry.  But Superman's on the way.  He gave me an idea.  I will charge.  And pay back tommrow.  And then Superman left.  And I paid back."

P.S. My spellchecker was going crazy!!

Happy Birthday To Me!

My husband surprised me by being home from his out of town job when I got home from work today.  He had these waiting for me:

Thank you "B"! I love you!

Cork Board

A few years ago I bought a wall hanging at Kirkland's but it was one of those pieces that I could never find the right place for so I never hung it.  When my son moved out and I redecorated his room, it got "stuck" in there.

And dummy me forgot to take a "before" pic!  So I'll attempt to describe it.

It was made like a shadowbox with three square metal trivets placed inside boxes with a green mat placed on top. Actually, after tearing it apart we discovered that the metal trivets were not really metal, but plastic painted to look like metal and the boxes were made out of Styrofoam.

Not sure you get the "picture", but it's the best I could do to describe it.

Several weekends ago, I found some old wooden darts with turkey feathers at a local antique shop. I loved them, but did not buy them. Later, I had a brainstorm about how to use them so my husband bid on some on e-bay and won. They were cheaper than the ones in the antique store ($10.00 for a dozen).

This past weekend we (meaning "he") took the shadowbox apart and put cork board in place of all the other stuff! I hung it back up in my son's room with some of his memorabilia pinned to it using the darts.

The black frame looks good in his room so I am not going to paint it.  The only thing I want to do is add a few more pieces of memorabilia.

A signed golf score card from Brett Farve.  My dad use to play golf with him.

Darts!

I bought a set (12) of these for only $10.00!

What did I do with them?

I will show you soon!!

A Special Day, Today

FOR THESE TWO

My handsome son, Jarred, turns 22 today. Happy Birthday to him! And congrats to my beautiful daughter in law, Brittni. Today she receives the Most Outstanding Student Award for Marketing & Communication from Ole Miss University.

They will both be graduating from Ole Miss next month. Jarred has already been blessed with two job offers. He accepted the one in Oxford, MS. They will be moving from their apartment into a house in June and Brittni will continue with her education.

I couldn't be prouder of these two. Can you tell?

Love you guys!

Dumpster Diving

Again!  This time, ME! Not him!

I passed this vanity bench on the side of the road on my way to a lunch date with a friend a couple of weeks ago.  I was running late and didn't really have time to stop so I told myself I would pick it up on the way home.  And you and I both know it more than likely would not have been there!  So, yes, I turned around, went back to the house and loaded it up.

The homeowner was outside so I made sure with her that it was ok for me to get it.  She said she was getting rid of it because it was broke and she was tired of waiting for her husband to fix it.

I forgot to take a picture before we recovered the top, but here is the frame after being welded back together.

Repaired!  It's under the cushion, so you can' see it.

The cushion was covered in a neutral upholstery fabric, almost the same color as the new fabric.

Can you see what I used to cover it?

Yep, burlap!  I already had the burlap so this little project cost zero dollars and zero cents!
